Timeline of El Salvador's History
- 1524 - Pedro de Alvarado, who was a Spanish adventurer, took over El Salvador
- 1540 - All of the Salvadoran resistance is stopped and El Salvador soon became a Spanish colony
- 1625 - Very few black people were in El Salvador and no more than 10000 were brought in as slaves. Also, a slave rebellion was averted in this year
- 1697 - The El Salvador Church was established, while the ministry of Alonso de Molina Duran, who was the priest
- 1770 - The Izalco Volcano sprang up
- 1776 - Spain had one large colony at this time called the Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata, which was located in south-east South America
- 1821 - El Salvador manages to get their independence from Spain
- 1840 - After the dissolution of the United Provinces of Central America, which included Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, El Salvador became fully independent
- 1969 - There were thousands of evictions of illegal immigrants from Honduras in El Salvador, which started a war between Honduras and El Salvador
- 1980 - Assassination of Archbishop of San Salvador and human right campaigner ,Oscar Romero, so Jose Napoleon Duarte became the first civilian president.
