El Salvador is country of many different things. First off, there is a large variety of religions for such a small country. People are Roman Catholic, Protestant, Mormon, Jehova's Witnesses, and more. Salvadorans have developed a lot over the past 200 years in the arts; literature, music, and painting. It was after independence when the arts became much more common and improved. Most pieces of art in El Salvador have been greatly influenced by politics. The most popular sports in El Salvador volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, and the most popular is soccer. Soccer is actually the country's national sport. Almost every city, even the small ones, has a soccer stadium. Additionally, water sports are popular due to the extreme heat during parts of the year. They consist of swimming, fishing, water-skiing, and boating, which all sound like tons of fun!! El Salvador does have their own meals, but some food is greatly influenced by the U.S., such as McDonalds. A Typical day would have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast usually would consist of a hot tortilla and coffee. Lunch, the largest meal, would include soup, tortillas, rice, corn, beans, and sometimes with meat, poultry, or fish. The people of El Salvador are hard working, sociably, kind, devout, and generous. It is hard to tell in the way the people act that this country struggles greatly with poverty, but the wealthy Salvadorans live just like we do. The main goal of Salvadoran workers is to provide food and shelter for their family. On the bright side Salvadorans are very happy people and love to sing, play music, and dance. Below, you will see a traditional Salvadoran folk song and dance.
